CLINTON COLUMN FOR SEPTEMBER 12,2002
An interesting type of Flea Market will be taking place on September 21 in Rob Lee Acres in Upper Marlboro. Each homeowner will be setting up in his/her own yard and a map will be passed out at the entrance to Rob Lee to show where they are located. Time for you to buy will be 8 am to 12 noon. Each homeowner will be expected to donate $15, including the yearly association dues. To take advantage of this fabulous situation, take Route 4, Pennsylvania Avenue, to the Woodyard Road exit. After turning off Route 4, take the first left turn and go under the overpass. Then take Old Marlboro Pike to Rob Lee. If you need more information, you can call Rose Hoffman, at 301-313-0316.

Some information from the American Cancer Society's latest newsletter: Fat-free products are not necessarily healthier than foods that contain some fat. Even though fat-free foods do not have fat, they still have calories. Remember that we all need some fat in our diet. Butter is high in artery-clogging saturated fat, but margarine can be high in trans fat, which behaves like saturated fat in the body. The best choice is a soft tub margarine that contains no trans fats. Since these tub margarines generally contain some water, they do not behave the same way as full-fat products when baking. Whichever product you use, use it sparingly. Alternative sweeteners have been thoroughly tested and have not been found to cause any health problems when used in moderation, but remember that one teaspoon of sugar contains only 16 calories. If you have specific questions about diet, nutrition and cancer, call the Nutrition Hotline at1-800-843-8114.
