CLINTON COLUMN FOR AUGUST 14, 2003
Since I, along with many others, like to go out to eat, I decided to try the new "Panera Bread" place in Waldorf, so a friend and I went for lunch. Apparently, it is a very popular place as it was quite crowded at 12:15. The food was good, but since they make their own bread, the roll was very thick, not really good for a weight watcher. It looks like hardly anyone cooks any more.

It will be adjacent to the Memorial, a permanent shrine dedicated to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the battle of law versus disorder. Teenage suicides have been declining in recent years, but they are still the third leading case of death among young people in the United States. In general, girls commit suicide less often than boys. White, teenage males have the highest number of suicides and black female teenagers have the lowest suicide rate. Aged 15 to 19 are the years when teenagers are most likely to commit suicide.
In 1948, George de Mistral, a Swiss mountain-hiker, was hiking when he noticed that burrs got entangled on the surface of his fuzzy clothing. He decided that this annoyance could be translated into a new invention that would work better than a zipper. From that, Velcro (from velvet crochet) was born.
