CLINTON COLUMN FOR JULY 25, 2002

Rumors always fly during a political season, and this one is no different. It has been rumored that Roslyn Turner has aligned herself with Major Riddick, and also with Jack Johnson, who are both running for County Executive. Roslyn is not tied up with anyone at the moment, and has no plans to do so.

Joyce Dowling, who is our BrandywineMD.com web, and her husband, Race, held a "meet and greet" for Roslyn on Saturday, July 20.

Surratts Society is having their Annual Fall Banquet on Friday, September 27, beginning with a social hour and cash bar at 6 pm. If you are interested in attending this dinner, it is $30 per person and you need to have your reservation in by September 20. After dinner, Uncle Sam will give us a timely, illustrated history lesson about Santa Claus. Call me if you want more information.

If there are any of you out there whose ancestors were Southern sympathizers during the Civil War, you will be interested in what the Surratt Society has uncovered about John Wilkes Booth. Even though he did assassinate President Lincoln, he was doing a deed that the Confederacy was behind. He was not really alone in this endeavor. The Surratt Society thinks that a headstone should be placed at his grave. What do you think? Call them at 301-868-1121 if you have an opinion.

Come to the Brandywine Democratic Club's Candidates Night on August 1st, and meet the people who are running for all of the seats in our area.
