CLINTON COLUMN FOR JUNE 19, 2003

On Monday, June 9, our little group of Patuxent Baysavers went on a lovely sunset boat ride at Patuxent River Park with our great Chairperson, Mary Kilbourne. Mary is always quick to point out the Ospreys, Herons, and red-winged blackbirds. This time, we got to see a couple of huge turtles swimming around and a couple of snakes sunning themselves. It was a great evening. Thanks, Mary.

On Wednesday, June 11, I fell on the slippery kitchen floor, and put a big hole in my elbow where it hit against a metal drawer handle. I also put a small hole in my temple when I hit the corner of the counter that sticks out above the drawers. I was on my way to a meeting so I decided to go ahead, but had promised my daughter, Judy, to bring her some soup on my way to the meeting. When I got to Judy's office, she informed me that it was a cut about two inches long and maybe ¾ of an inch deep, so I should go to the hospital and have it stitched, which I did. They insisted on x-raying it and then informed me that there was a fracture and said I needed to go to an Orthopedist. So, after waiting for four hours at the Orthopedist, I was told there was no fracture, they cleaned the wound and put a new bandage on it, and then told me I could do what I wanted. Sometimes, I think these doctors are just trying to make money.
