CLINTON COLUMN FOR MAY 1, 2003

We have again opened the Duvall Tool Museum at Patuxent River Park. I hope that all of you read the wonderful article written by Sara Gebhart in the Prince George's Section of the Washington Post on April 23. The museum is now part of what is called the Patuxent Rural Life Museums. There is a blacksmith shop, a wonderful log cabin, and a tobacco barn. Very soon, we will be having a "Grand Opening" for the season, and at that time, we will probably be having blacksmith demonstrations, as well as a carpenter showing how to make furniture. We always have a very interesting lady who will talk to you in the log cabin about what life was like back in those days. She is always cooking something in the fireplace, and she also has a little garden. If you have never been there, try to comeand see us some Saturday or Sunday from 1 to 4. The Park is off of Croom Airport Road, and the Rural Village is up the gravel road across from the Visitors Center. There is also a really great boat ride that they give some weekends, and it is especially fun for the children. For more information, call the Park at 301-627-6074.
