CLINTON COLUMN FOR NOVEMBER 6, 2003
During the last week in October, I spent three days in Ocean City with the United Democratic Women's Club at their convention for all the Maryland Districts. It is a lot of fun being with women who feel the same way about the Democratic party. We are all hoping that we can get our party members riled up for the next two elections so we can take back our state and our country. I am asking all of my readers who are good Democrats to make sure that you are registered and that you vote. Many folks who are registered feel that it can't make a difference if they vote or not, but elections have been won or lost by a very few votes. Maybe you are one of the people who feel that they can't vote because they don't know the candidates. Join your local Democratic club and learn. You'll be glad you did. Call me and I will put you in touch with the correct people for your area.

The late President of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Steve Young, has been honored by a Department of Labor $2 million grant program, which will supplement resources to the families of fallen officers. Mr. Young worked diligently with the U.S. Secretary of Labor and the Department of Labor to develop a scholarship program to provide training and educational assistance to the spouses of fallen officers. This program and the supplemental financial assistance will help these spouses and their families to regain footing, begin to rebuild their lives, enter the workforce, and help those looking to upgrade their skills or explore new career opportunities. The offices for the NLEOMF are at 400 7th Street, NW., Suite 300, and the phone number is 202-737-3400. Their email address is info@nleomf.org, website <www.nleomf.org>www.nleomf.org.
