CLINTON COLUMN FOR OCTOBER 16, 2003
Although I was not involved in the financial end of it, I would say the crab feast at American Legion Post 259 on Piscataway Road was definitely a success. When I was there, I figured there were about 180 to 200 people there at the same time. The crabs were outstanding, the corn on the cob was spectacular, and even the hot dogs were good. Since I manage to get up there for their great shrimp a lot of Wednesdays, I enjoyed the crowd and the free beer, along with the crabs, etc. on October 4.
This is a reminder of the Craft Fair at American Legion Post 259 this Saturday, October 18. Check it out.
Next thing coming up for Post 259 is dancing to the music of the 50s to the 70s on Saturday, November 1, from 8 pm until 12 midnight. Bring a friend; this one is FREE!!
There is also a yard sale you can attend on Saturday, October 18, at the Clinton United Methodist Church on Brandywine Road from 8 am to 2 pm. Tables are still available. Call 301-868-1281.
North Clinton Citizens Association hosted Clinton Community Day, with about 350 people on September 6, on the grounds of Stephen Decatur Middle School. The Association wants to thank the many local businesses who donated food, supplies, and prizes. Event Chairperson Rita Bastek and North Clinton Citizens Association President, Clint Burnham involved all generations in this exciting event. Guests included judges of the baking contests, Councilwoman Marilyn Bland, Sam Canty, Co-owner of the new Chef Recipe Restaurant, Sherry Giovannoni, co-owner of the Fish Market, and our esteemed Senator Mike Miller. North Clinton Citizens Association has worked together for more than 40 years to create a Livable Community Initiative as hoped for by County Executive Jack Johnson. In December, there will be a door decoration contest, and a Holiday parade.
It is fun writing news about the Clinton community, so if any of you who read this column have an event coming up, or would like to tell me about one you have already had, I am ready and willing to write about it. This includes anniversary parties, children or grandchildren arrivals, visitors from out of town, or anything that would be of interest to others. Just give me a call.
